For tired, anxious, overworked people in Canberra who have been looked at in pieces

The mind and the body are one system. So is your care.

Naturopathy, counselling and lifestyle medicine, in the one room, for the whole of you. Canberra, ACT.

    Woman smiling in nature

If you are tired in a way that sleep does not fix, anxious in a way no one has quite explained, and carrying weight or worry you cannot seem to shift, you have probably already been to a GP, a psychologist and maybe a dietitian. Each one looked at their piece. No one looked at the whole of you. That is the work here. I am Raji Samprathi, a naturopath and counsellor in Canberra, and I look at your body and your mind together, because they were never two separate problems. We start from exactly where you are, and we go gently. Energy is the currency of health, and the aim is to help you get yours back.

More than ten years in clinic – naturopathy and counselling, side by side.

One practitioner, three disciplines – naturopathy, counselling and lifestyle medicine.

Leading the ACT chapter of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine.

    The Reality

    Does this sound like you?

    You are running on empty

Middle of your life, middle of your career, a young family at home and ageing parents to worry about. You wake up already behind. Unexplained gnawing anxiety and fear. Three coffees to get through the day, a glass of wine to come down at night, and a mind that will not switch off at 3am. You are not broken. You are carrying too much, for too long, without anyone looking at the whole picture.

    The weight will not budge

And it is not for lack of trying. You have done the diets, the apps, the fasting. Your last blood test came back "borderline," and your GP said to lose weight to address the elevated blood pressure, fatty liver or HbA1c, as if you had not been trying. The problem is rarely willpower. It is usually a body that has been stuck in stress for years coping with a fast-paced lifestyle, and a story underneath it that no meal plan can reach.

    Losing yourself, quietly

You're the one everyone else leans on - and somewhere in that, your own energy, your sleep, your spark have started slipping away. Maybe it crept in with a loss, or a season of change you didn't choose - retirement, an empty house, a body or identity that no longer feels familiar. Maybe it's a nagging health issue you've never had time to deal with. You just know you feel heavy, flat, not yourself.

More than one in six Australians aged 16 to 85 experienced an anxiety disorder in a single year.
You are not alone in this.

    The Approach

One room. One practitioner. The whole of you.

Most people get their mind and their body treated as two separate problems, by two separate professionals, who never speak to each other. The psychologist sees the anxiety but not the cortisol, the gut, the fatty liver or the elevated blood sugar feeding it. The GP sees the blood pressure but not the 3am ruminations. The dietitian counts the macros but not the emotional eating loop underneath.

When all of it is looked at in one room, by one person, something shifts. You stop having to be the project manager of your own care. As a naturopath and a counsellor, with lifestyle medicine as the thread that ties it together, I can hold the physical and the emotional at the same time, because in real life they are the same system.

"Anxiety is not just your personality, and tiredness is not just your age. When we look at the body and the story together, we usually find the thing everyone else has been stepping around."

    Our Modalities

    How we can work together

    Naturopathy

    Naturopathy

Root-cause, whole-person care. We look at how you eat, sleep, move and manage stress before we reach for a herb or a nutrient. We are looking to address the downstream symptoms by understanding the upstream causes. Yes, herbs and supplements do have a place, they support the changes you are making, never replace them.

    Counselling

    Counselling

A space to be heard, not pathologised. I am not here to see you as a problem to be fixed. I am here to understand the whole of you, gently, and to walk alongside you.

    Lifestyle Medicine

    Lifestyle Medicine

The evidence-based framework that holds it all together: nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, connection and healthy behaviours. The focus is on the long game – a life that is built around sustainable habits. It is the connective tissue of everything I do.

    The Philosophy

    Your Life Script

You will not leave with a generic protocol or a list of things to give up. You will leave with a Life Script: a plan written for your everyday life, as it actually is right now. Two or three changes you are genuinely ready to make, in your own words, at your own pace. This could include dietary modifications, sleep habits, building movement into your day, making new friends, cutting out alcohol, daily breathing or grounding practices to deal with stress or journalling. The cost of good habits is in the present, and the cost of bad habits is in the future, and the gentlest place to begin is exactly where you are.

    The Process

    How working together looks

    1

    A gentle first conversation

My first consultation with you is for about to 90 minutes. I take the time to understand the whole picture: your energy, sleep, digestion, stress, family history and the story that brought you in.

    2

    Your Life Script

You leave with a plan written for your actual life, built around the two or three small changes you are genuinely ready to make to feel better and live more. It is your plan. A consultative exercise. Not a list of things to give up. A clear, kind first step. This could include dietary modifications, sleep habits, building movement into your day, making new friends, cutting out alcohol, daily breathing or grounding practices to deal with stress or journalling. Tiny habits done consistently can have a powerful impact. Walking it together

    3

    Walking it together

We adjust this plan as life shifts, focusing on consistency rather than intensity. Show up, even on the hard days. This is a long game, and we treat it like one.

    The Foundation

    Six pillars, one whole life

Nutrition. Movement. Sleep. Stress and relaxation. Social connection. Healthy behaviours. We do not overhaul all six at once. We find the one or two aspects of your life that could do with some attention and that will bring back your mojo, and we start there.
